Bayne at Phoenix

Trevor Bayne will make his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Phoenix International Raceway this weekend. In one previous start at the one-mile oval, Bayne started 33rd and finished 40th following an incident 49 laps into the event.

Bayne previously raced at Phoenix in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, making 10 starts and recording one top-five finish, six top-10 finishes and has an average finish of 13.1. Bayne finished in the top 10 in six consecutive races at Phoenix from Nov. 2011 to Nov. 2014.

Bayne’s top-five effort came in the March 2, 2013 event after starting and finishing in the fourth position.

Bob Osborne at Phoenix

Osborne will call his 16th career NSCS race at Phoenix on Sunday afternoon. In 15 previous races in the Valley of the Sun, Osborne has recorded one win, four top-five and eight top-10 finishes.

Osborne went to Victory Lane at Phoenix on Nov. 14, 2010 with driver Carl Edwards, qualifying on the pole and leading 93 laps en route to the victory.

Recapping Las Vegas

Bayne began the 500-mile event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from the 35th position. After battling with a car that’s handling fluctuated from tight to loose throughout the course of the 267-lap event, the driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion was able to take the checkered flag in the 28th position.

Bayne on racing at Phoenix:

“We were really consistent at Phoenix in the XFINITY Series these last couple of years. Hopefully that past success can lead to good things with the Cup car this weekend. I’m confident that (crew chief) Bob (Osborne) and everyone on this AdvoCare team will give me a strong car this weekend. I have some experience racing a Cup car at Phoenix. I raced there once before with the Wood Brothers in 2011, but we weren’t able to really run many laps. I’m looking forward to getting there this weekend and seeing how we will run.”
