ADVANCE NOTES

Bayne at Fontana

Trevor Bayne will make his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Auto Club Speedway this weekend. In one previous start at the two-mile oval, Bayne started 27th and finished in the 30th position.

Bayne has made 30 starts in his NSCS career at tracks two-miles or larger, earning one victory, his first, in the 2011 running of the Daytona 500.

Bayne previously raced at Fontana in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, making seven starts and recording three top-10 finishes, with an average finish of 11.3.

Bayne’s best finish of sixth at Fontana came in the March 2011 event after starting from the ninth position.

Bob Osborne at Fontana

Osborne will be atop the pit box for the 17th time at Fontana on Sunday afternoon. In 16 previous races at the two-mile oval, Osborne has recorded one win, six top-fives, 11 top-10s and an average finish of 10.8.

Osborne went to Victory Lane at Fontana on Feb. 25, 2008 with driver Carl Edwards, who started from the ninth position and led 64 laps en route to the victory.

Recapping Phoenix

Bayne began the 312-lap event at Phoenix International Raceway from the 36th position. After battling a car that had a loose handling condition for much of the afternoon, the driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion was able to take the checkered flag in the 28th position.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing at Fontana:

“Fontana is a great track to race on. It has a worn out surface that really allows for some great racing. You can run on the top of the track or the bottom through the corners. I always enjoyed racing there in the XFINITY Series and am excited to hit the track this weekend in the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion in the Cup Series. Hopefully we’ll have a strong run.”
