ADVANCE NOTES

Biffle at California

Biffle has 21 Sprint Cup Series starts at Fontana, earning one win, four top-five and seven top-10 finishes, while also leading 297 laps total.

He has an average starting position of 14.6 and finishing position of 18.5 at the track.

In addition to his Sprint Cup victory at Fontana, he also has three XFINITY wins.

Leading at California

Biffle has led a combined total of 688 laps in NASCAR action at the two-mile track in the Sprint Cup, XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series.

Winning at California
Despite falling a lap down Greg Biffle found a way to not only get back to the front, but hold off a charging Jimmie Johnson to win the Auto Club 500 on Feb. 27, 2005.  Biffle put himself in position to win when he stayed out on what proved to be the final caution of the day.  Kurt Busch had the lead on the restart with 29 laps to go, but Biffle was able to pass him six circuits later.  Even though he scraped the wall on a couple of occasions down the stretch, he managed to coax his Taurus to his fourth series win.

Last Time California

Greg Biffle qualified his No. 16 Ford 29th at Fontana and throughout the race battled with front turn.  The handling woes cost Biffle track position, but pit strategy earned him a lead lap finish, despite a spin after contact on the final green-white-checkered finish.  Biffle continued on and ultimately crossed the finish line on the lead lap in 32nd.

On the Car

The No. 16 Fusion carries the Ford EcoBoost colors this weekend in Fontana. Ford EcoBoost technology combines smaller overall size with turbocharging, direct injection and variable valve timing to bring customers outstanding performance and fuel economy.

Biffle on California:

“California is one of my favorite places to race and we seem to run really well there.  The track is bumpy, but a lot of fun to race on.  I’ve enjoyed this West coast swing and I’m looking to close it out with a good run on Sunday.”
