Buescher Lands A Top-15 In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (March 8, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Chris Buescher finished 14th in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  After coming off two strong top-five runs, the No. 60 Roush Performance team battled a tight Ford Mustang for the majority of the day.

“We were tight and it made for a really long day for us,” said Buescher.  “There isn’t much really to do other than move on to the next one.  We will head into Phoenix and try to get this west coast swing, swinging back our way a little bit.”

Buescher lined up 10th to start the 200-Lap, 300-Mile Saturday afternoon race from the 1.5-mile track.  With a strong start, Buescher passed five cars on the opening lap.  The sophomore driver in the NASCAR XFINITY Series maintained his position in the top-10 until his Mustang lost front grip and became tight in the center.

On Lap 47, crew chief Scott Graves took the opportunity to call his driver down pit road under caution for the first stop of the day.  Graves opted for four tires and chassis adjustments to assist the handling of the No. 60 Roush Performance Mustang.

After getting shuffled out of the top-10 on a restart, Buescher continued to tick off laps inside the top-15, informing his team that his Mustang was still too tight on entry and in the center.  A green flag pit stop on Lap 104 brought another opportunity for Buescher to visit pit road for four tires, fuel and adjustments.

When the Prosper, Texas native returned to the track, Graves radioed to him that his lap times were quicker than the cars in front of him.  However, the long green flag run dropped Buescher one lap down to the race leaders.

Buescher battled the tight handling condition for the remainder of the race, gaining three positions in the closing 30 laps of the race to finish 14th.

With the result, Buescher moves to second in the NASCAR XFINITY Series point standings heading to Phoenix International Raceway.
