No. 17 Team Members Talk West Coast Swing on ‘Jack’s Garage’

CONCORD, N.C. (March 8, 2018) – Brian Pattie and Dewayne ‘Ryder’ Zirkle joined Claire B. Lang for this week’s episode of “Jack’s Garage.”

Pattie, the crew chief of the No. 17 Fastenal Ford team, discussed the late call he made at the end of Sunday’s race in Las Vegas that helped driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. gain a few more positions.

“You’re just trying to do the best you can with what you have at that point,” Pattie said. “The car fell off quite a bit on the long run. So short pitting and just trying to equal out the segment and get the best tires as possible for Ricky to make some lap time was our best option.”

Zirkle, No. 17 team hauler driver, joined the segment shortly after Pattie to discuss how he takes on the west coast swing.

“A lot of people don’t realize that everything on that truck is only good for one race,” Zirkle said. “It has to come off each time. When we’re on the west coast, we cannot get home and make it back here in time. We have support trucks come to us.”
