Reed Finishes 11th At Dover

DOVER, Del. (May 30, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed and the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association team finished 11th on Saturday at Dover International Speedway after starting in the 17th position.

“We fought loose conditions the entire day,” said Reed. “The car tightened up as the run progressed but we just couldn’t get it where we needed it. I’m really proud of the improvements crew chief Seth (Barbour) and the team made throughout the weekend and look forward to getting back on track in two weeks at Michigan.”

Reed started the 200-lap event from the 17th position and had moved up to 15th by Lap 30. He was quiet on the radio until the Lap 56 debris caution at which time he reported the car was loose under throttle.

Crew chief Seth Barbour brought Reed down pit road for four tires and a track bar adjustment to correct the loose condition. Reed and the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang restarted in the 15th position on the impending restart.

Soon after the restart, the yellow was displayed for an incident on the one-mile oval. Reed reported that the car was too tight at the beginning of the run, but became freer as the run progressed. He had moved up to the 13th position by the restart on Lap 74.

A caution on Lap 99 gave the team another chance to adjust the No. 16 Ford. Reed pitted for four tires and a wedge adjustment to restart in the 14th position on Lap 105. By lap 127, Reed reported that the change had negatively affected the car’s handling. He maintained the 13th position and had improved to 12th by Lap 155.

The team pitted for the last time on Lap 184 to top off on fuel and change right-side tires. With 10 laps to go, Reed was able to improve to the 11th position, where he would finish the race. He recorded his third-straight top-15 finish and eighth of the season.

Reed remains eighth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings after Saturday’s race. He and teammate Chris Buescher, who won his second race of the season at Dover, are the only NASCAR XFINITY Series regulars to win a race this season. Reed and the No. 16 team return to the track on Saturday, June 13 at Michigan International Speedway.
