Reed Finishes Seventh at Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (October 20, 2018) – Ryan Reed drove his No. 16 Drive Down A1C Lilly Diabetes Ford to a seventh-place finish Saturday afternoon at Kansas Speedway.  Reed started the race 16th and solidly made gains over the 200-lap event to earn his second top-10 finish at Kansas.

“I’m proud of the team for digging deep today,” said Reed.  “We have three more races left and three more chances to finish out the season with a win.”

Reed started the race 16th and as the field rounded turns one and two contact between the leaders created a multi-car incident.  Reed narrowly avoided the cars wrecking in front of him to emerge unscathed.  After a lengthy cleanup, he took the green flag to resume racing on lap 11 in the ninth position.

Rear grip was a strength for the No. 16 Mustang over the course of stage one, so after the 45-lap segment Reed brought the No. 16 down pit road for just four tires and fuel to prepare for stage two.  Reed took the green for stage two eighth, but rear grip faded over the next 30 laps.

At the conclusion of stage two Reed pitted for four tires, fuel, wedge and packer adjustments.  Reed took the green for the final stage 10th and worked his way up to sixth, before going a lap down to the leaders on a long green flag run.

A caution fell while Reed was in the “lucky dog” position, putting the No. 16 back on the lead lap.  Reed took the final green flag restart seventh and maintained his position to earn his second top-10 finish at Kansas Speedway.
