ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Dover International Speedway

Reed has two starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Dover International Speedway, both during his 2014 rookie season. In his first appearance at the track, Reed started the race 15th and finished 27th after being collected in a late-race incident. In the September 2014 race, Reed finished 24th after starting 18th and running out of fuel with three laps to go.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador Justin Keel will ride along with Ryan Reed during Saturday’s race. The Wyomissing, Pa. native will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side door on the No. 16 Ford Mustang.

Keel is an active 13-year-old who doesn’t let his type 1 diabetes slow him down. His need for speed is evident in his passions for soccer, running and fast cars. His dream is to find a cure for the disease so that he can someday serve his country as a member of the Armed Forces, an opportunity that is currently not available to those living with insulin-dependent diabetes.

Charlotte Recap

Reed finished 12th on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway after starting 10th and fighting a loose-handling racecar. Reed earned his seventh top-15 finish of the season.

2015 Season

Reed is currently eighth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings after one win and seven top-15 finishes. He and teammate Chris Buescher are the only XFINITY Series regulars to win a race so far this season.

Reed on Dover

“Dover is a track where we had really bad luck at last year so I’m excited to get back and hopefully turn our luck around. We have had a string of top-15 finishes in the past couple of weeks so we are headed in the right direction. We will have a lot of folks from Lilly at the track this weekend and I would love to get them a win in our No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang.”

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Dover International Speedway on Saturday, May 30 at 2:30 p.m. ET on FOX and MRN.
