ROUSH FENWAY SET FOR DAYTONA 500 POLE DAY

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 9, 2020) – The NASCAR Cup Series kicks off the 2020 season with qualifying for the world’s most famous race: The Daytona 500.

Roush Fenway drivers Ryan Newman and Chris Buescher will each look to take home the fastest lap in hopes of starting on the pole in ‘The Great American Race.’

By the end of Saturday’s two practice sessions, Newman and Buescher topped the charts at 21st and 23rd, respectively.

Roush Fenway has won the pole at Daytona in the Cup Series on five occasions, including twice for the Daytona 500. In 2012 the team swept the front row with Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle, before moving on to win the Daytona Duel and the Daytona 500 in one of the most dominant Speedweeks performances ever.

Today’s Speedweeks schedule consists of a single vehicle, two-round qualifying session and the Clash race. All drivers will go out for an attempt in the first round. The top 12 speeds from the first round will get back on track for a second round. Only the top two starting positions for next week’s Daytona 500 race will be determined. The entire field will be set in The Duels race on Thursday, Feb. 13.

Tune in for qualifying today on FOX and MRN at 12:30 p.m. EST.
