Top-10 Finish for Sadler at Texas Motor Speedway

FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 7, 2015)  Roush Fenway Racing’s Elliott Sadler finished 10th in his No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang on Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway. NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) qualifying was cancelled due to a weeping track and the field was set by Friday’s practices times. Sadler started 14th for the 200 lap event on Saturday afternoon.

“Bringing home a Top-10 finish isn’t a bad way to kick off the final three races of the season,” Sadler said after he exited the car. “We started off pretty tight, but on lap 47 I brushed the wall and my car’s handling drastically got better. But when the sun went down, the track cooled down and my car’s handling became loose. My guys on pit road did a great job all day, especially on the last pit stop. The crew was able to make the correct changes and I was able to make some quality passes in the final laps to bring home a Top-10 finish.”

Sadler’s race weekend started with one long practice session on Friday and qualifying was set to start on Saturday morning. However, the track was still weeping water from the rain earlier that morning and NXS qualifying was cancelled. The starting order was decided by Friday’s practice times and Sadler started the NXS race from the 14th position.

Sadler worked his way up to the 11th position by lap 31, but on lap 47 Sadler radioed to the team, “I brushed the wall.” Not long after brushing the wall, Sadler radioed to the team again and said, “I think the hit helped my handling.” When the caution came out on Lap 77, Sadler was scored in the seventh position.

The No. 1 OneMain Financial crew executed a great stop and Sadler moved up three spots on pit road. Sadler restarted on Lap 86 in the fourth position.

Not long after the restart the sun went down and the track started to cool down. This temperature change was not in Sadler’s favor and his car immediately loosened up. Sadler drifted back to the 14th position.

Another caution came out on Lap 184 and Sadler pitted with the field under yellow. The crew made a big track bar adjustment and Sadler was able to gain some ground in the final 16 laps.  Sadler battled and crossed the finish line in the 10th position.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series and Sadler’s No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang will be back in action next week at Phoenix International Raceway on November 14th, 2015.
