DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 23, 2017) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, recorded a sixth-place finish in Thursday night’s first Can-Am Duel 150 qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway.

“My AdvoCare Ford felt really good tonight,” said Bayne after the race. “It pushed like crazy and it runs the bottom better than any car I’ve ever really had here. Really made tonight a fun night and helped us learn what we need to do over the next couple of days to get this car ready for the 500 on Sunday.”

Bayne began the 60-Lap qualifying event from the 10th position and wasted little time charging toward the front, drafting into the top five and up to the third position by the seventh lap. The driver of the AdvoCare Ford continued to fight for position inside the top 10 until the competition caution waved on Lap 25.

During the caution crew chief Matt Puccia called Bayne to pit road for four fresh tires, sending the Roush Fenway Racing driver back out in the 11th position for the Lap 30 restart. Bayne pressed forward when the race went back green, utilizing the middle lane to draft back up to as high as sixth before the caution flew once again on Lap 48.

Bayne took the ensuing restart on Lap 52 from seventh and battled three-wide for position throughout much of the closing laps. In the end, Bayne crossed the finish line for the final time in the sixth position.

With the result, Bayne will take the green flag for the 59th running of the Daytona 500 from the 11th position.
