Diaries of Thunder: Andrea Perry

During the Daytona Speedweeks, we’ll be featuring blogs from our non-competition team on the ground. Today’s blog is from Andrea Perry, Communications Manager for the Sprint Cup No. 17 team.

Hello from the World’s Most Famous Beach, Daytona!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. After traveling so much during the year, we always look forward to the off-season and being able to spend time with our family and friends.

Two months off is always great but when it is time to go to Daytona, I’m always ready. The Sprint Unlimited kicks off the start of Speed Weeks which ended up being a good race for the Roush Fenway Racing team as both Greg (Biffle) and Ricky (Stenhouse Jr.) scored top-10 finishes.

The front row of the Daytona 500 was set yesterday and the remainder of the field will be set on Thursday with the Can-Am Duels. The No. 17 Fastenal Ford looked sporty yesterday ending up fifth overall on the speedcharts. Our teammates will also be in Duel 1 so hopefully we can all finish up front and earn a good starting position for our Super Bowl, the Daytona 500.

Even though it’s a little cloudy here in Daytona today, I would much rather be here than back home in North Carolina as they are currently experiencing some icy weather. It seems every year North Carolina gets hit by a winter storm while we are in Daytona.

I hope everyone has a great remainder of the week and will tune in on Thursday to the Can-Am Duels which will air on Fox Sports 1 at 7 P.M EST and then the Daytona 500 on Sunday which airs on Fox at 1 P.M EST.

Now back to listening to the waves…
