ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Atlanta

Ryan Reed has two starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) with finishes of 18th in 2014 and 16th in 2015. The last time the NXS visited AMS, Reed was making his final green-flag pit stop when the caution was displayed, trapping the team a lap down late in the race.

Reed at 1.5-mile tracks

Reed finished 11th at the 1.5-mile tracks of Chicagoland Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2015, recording two of his highest finishes of the season outside of his season-opening win at Daytona.

Daytona Recap

Reed finished 16th in the NXS season opener at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) on Saturday after sustaining damage in an early wreck on Lap 15. He started the 200-lap race from the 11th position and was running 12th when the damage occurred. After repairing the damage, Reed rebounded to maintain the 12th position until a pit stop late in the race left Reed with little time to make up the track position. Reed left DIS 11th in the NXS championship points standings, 13 points out of the lead.

Reed on Atlanta

“I feel like Atlanta is a shot at redemption for us after Daytona didn’t really go our way. We have an awesome team and had some good speed at 1.5-mile tracks last year, which our finishes don’t really reflect. Daytona is such an anomaly that Atlanta is really our first chance to show what we have this season – and I’m confident we can prove we are here to compete for a championship.”

Local Connection

The No. 16 team’s rear tire changer, Jon Moore, is from nearby Gainesville, Ga. and considers AMS his home track. Moore has worked in racing for 15 years, beginning his career as a welder nearly 13 years ago and working his way up to rear tire changer position on the pit crews for Reed and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Meet Ryan

Reed will appear at the XFINITY Zone in the Fan Midway at AMS for a Q&A session on Saturday, February 27th at 10:30 a.m. ET.
