Roush Madness ‘Game Notes’

Roush Madness features 58 drivers who have taken the wheel for Roush Fenway Racing.

All-in-all Jack Roush Fords have made 6,097 starts in NASCAR action.

The top-six drivers received a bye in the tournament, with seeding based on NASCAR starts for Roush Fenway.

14 drivers have started more than 100 races in Jack Roush Fords, of those all 14 went on to win multiple times as NASCAR’s three highest levels.

Winning

The field of 58 has combined for 850 wins in NASCAR action. In addition, 38 of the 58 drivers that make up the field have won races in NASCAR action, with 36 having won multiple events and 17 having won 10 or more events.

We are the Champions

The field features eight eventual NASCAR Champions, and five multiple time champions.

Hank, why do you race?

The field has six drivers whose name features the suffix ‘Jr.’, with Hank Parker Jr, being joined by Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Michel Jourdain Jr, Danny O’Quinn Jr, Wally Dallenbach Jr and Johnny Benson Jr. In addition, it also features Peter Shepherd III.

Family Tradition

Two of the field’s 58 competitors currently have children competing full-time in NASCAR. Jeff Burton (Harrison) and Dave Blaney (Ryan) each have sons carrying on that ole’ family tradition.

Nameology

The letter ‘M’ has been found a total of 88 times in our 58 drivers names. There are eight drivers who have a first or last name that begin with the letter ‘M,’ including Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Ted Musgrave, Michel Jourdain Jr., Mike Bliss, Ty Majeski, Paul Menard and Jamie McMurray. Mark Martin is the only Roush Fenway Racing driver whose first and last name begin with the letter ‘M.’

Driver by State

With 58 drivers all-time who have driven for Jack Roush, there’s a surprisingly great deal of parity in terms of drivers’ home states, with 24 states represented across the roster. California leads the way with seven drivers (Ryan Reed – Bakersfield, Joe Ruttman – Upland, Stanton Barrett – Bishop, Billy Johnson – San Clemente, Brian Ickler – San Diego, Tim Woods – Chino Hills, Auggie Vidovich – Lakeside) represented.

Wisconsin has six RFR drivers all-time, including Matt Kenseth (Cambridge), Todd Kluever (Sun Prairie), Paul Menard (Eau Claire), Travis Kvapil (Janesville), Ty Majeski (Seymour) and Nathan Haseleu (Marshall). Jeff Burton (South Boston), Jon Wood (Stuart), Danny O’Quinn, Jr. (Coeburn), Elliott Sadler (Emporia) and Gray Gaulding (Colonial Heights) all call Old Dominion home.

Interestingly, Hall of Famer Mark Martin is the lone RFR driver all-time to call Arkansas home. On the same hand, Ross Chastain (Alva) is the lone Floridian on RFR’s all-time roster.

The field has an international flavor, with Canada’s Peter Shepherd III and Mexico’s Michel Jourdain Jr.
