Sadler Finishes 13th At Las Vegas Motor Speedway

LAS VEGAS, NV. (Mar. 7, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Elliott Sadler finished in 13th-place during Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS). Sadler started the race in the 13th position and battled handling issues for the first 100 laps of the 200 lap race. After falling back from his starting position, Sadler and his No. 1 OneMain Financial crew made the right adjustments and Sadler methodically picked off one car at a time. In the closing 10 laps of the race, Sadler’s Mustang started posting the fastest lap times on the track. Sadler crossed the finish line in the 13th position.

“My No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang handled well in qualifying, but definitely loosened up at the beginning of the race,” said Sadler. “On the good note, my crew chief Phil Gould made great mid race adjustments and we were able to make up some lost ground at the end of the race. I knew this would be a process with a new team, but we’re moving in the right direction. Each race we are learning more about our communication process and learning the long term effects from our car adjustments. Look for us to make big moves on the track next week at Phoenix International Raceway.”

Sadler started the NXS race from LVMS in the 13th position, but slowly shuffled back through the field with a loose handling car.

On Sadler’s first pit stop, the crew added four fresh tires, two cans of racing fuel and a track bar adjustment. This adjustment helped and Sadler was able to move forward into the top-10.

Lap 107, Sadler drove his Mustang down pit road for a green flag pit stop. Over the course of the previous run, Sadler’s Mustang tightened up. The No. 1 crew added tires, fuel and worked on freeing up the rear end of the race car. After a few laps, Sadler radioed in that the adjustments freed up the car too much.

On Lap 157, Sadler pitted during green flag racing again. This turned out to be Sadler’s last pit stop of the race. This time the crew replaced the car with four new tires, two cans of fuel and made a wedge and track bar adjustment.

Following the pit stop, a few yellow flags came out for multiple accidents. Sadler was in the area during these cautions, but was able to maneuver his way around the collusions without any damages to the car.

In the closing 20 laps, the No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang settled into its adjustments and Sadler’s car started posting the fastest times on the track. Sadler made up some major ground and was able to cross the finish line in the 13th position.

With this 13th-place finish, Sadler moved into the top-10 in the NXS driver point standings.
