Stenhouse Looks to Build on Momentum in Michigan

Stenhouse has seven NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Michigan International Speedway with an average starting position of 21.3 and average finishing position of 22.4. The two-time NASCAR XFINITY champion has scored three top-five finishes this season equaling the number of top-fives he has scored in the previous three seasons combined.

Earlier This Year at Michigan

With seven laps remaining in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Michigan International Speedway, Stenhouse lined up in the 11th position for the final shootout but was forced to come to pit road after cutting a right rear tire resulting in a 29th- place finish.

Last Weekend Recap

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drove his Bryan Clauson Fastenal tribute Ford to a second-place finish after overcoming a two-lap deficit and a speeding penalty on pit road.  The second-place finish tied his career best finish of second at Bristol in 2014.

Zest

Zest is currently in its fifth season as a primary partner in the NSCS for Roush Fenway. They have spent all five years on the No. 17 machine; one year with Matt Kenseth and four years with Stenhouse.

Stenhouse Jr. on racing at Michigan:

“Michigan is a track that Roush Fenway, Ford, and Jack (Roush) have had a lot of success. We always want to have a strong showing at Michigan since it is in the backyard of Ford and Roush Industries. We had a strong run earlier this year but cut a tire so definitely didn’t get the finish we deserved. Last weekend was a great weekend for our team so we will carry that momentum into Michigan and hopefully leave with another top-10 finish.”

Sandler on racing at Michigan:

“We are looking forward to Michigan this weekend since it is home track for Jack and Ford. We had a fast Ford here earlier this year but just had some bad luck with cutting a tire with seven laps to go. We think we have learned some things since then and look to have another solid run this weekend at Michigan.”
