RFK Going Away from Chrome Numbers on its Ford Mustangs

CONCORD, NC (April 1, 2024) – RFK Racing has announced that it will no longer run chrome numbers on its Ford Mustangs driven by Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher.

The decision comes on the heels of popular fan sentiment around the chrome numbers, which have been run since the start of the 2022 season. RFK’s Fords will now feature slightly-less impressive flat numbers, due to the rising costs of chrome vinyl in 2024.

“While we know our fans have certainly enjoyed our chrome look the last couple years, we’re sad to see the chrome numbers go,” said Kevin Woods, SVP, Marketing & Communications. “The reality is, our competitors followed our lead in the months since we introduced these creative looks, and we’re looking forward to finding the next creative thing to be first to the table at.”

Along with the cost increase, the overwhelming positive feedback from fans on these chrome numbers has strained the marketing and competition departments. RFK Racing has received tens of thousands of letters from fans expressing their extreme appreciation for the chrome numbers, resulting in the company mail room not being reachable for months. A handful of employees have also been caught repeatedly checking out their reflection in the chrome, slowing down progress during work hours.

On-track action at Martinsville this week kicks off Saturday at 4:35 p.m. ET with group practice, followed by single-car qualifying.
